Capturing from a Canon HV30 HDV Camcorder – Avid Community
Did you get the camcorder new or previously owned? I’m using a 6-pin to 4-pin cable and my camera is not recognized on iMovie ’08, iMovie6 HD, Final Cut Pro, or by the firewire port according to both Network settings and “About this Mac”.
Just some thoughts Eddy. What you are looking for is the Capture section. Just follow the instructions. But then I may be misinterpreting the numbers. As always synonymous, I just wanted to say that the camera itself via usb was not recognized.

The AV setting I fanon to is on the camcorder, not on the computer. I just need to know that I’ll be able to tackle and master that in due time.
If HDV is not one of the selections, or if it is one of the selections but it still won’t import, you likely need to do a “custom install” using the OXS System disc that came with the computer to get the Apple Intermediate Codec installed on the computer. Then they cankn I may need to get a different video card nVidia.
